Keeping the ATF down below 200f will do a lot more for longevity than changing the filters. Subaru put a drain plug on the pan, use it. Do a drain and fill every now and then to help keep fresh ATF circulating. The spin on oil filter can't hurt to change either. Don't bother with the one in the pan.
